ACIS - The Management
Islamic education was first formally offered to ITM students in 1975 under the name Kursus Tamadun Islam and starting in June 22, 1977 this course is a compulsory subject for all students. This course is conducted by UPI (ITM Islamic Education Unit).
In 1 April 1983 equivalent to 17 Jamadil Akhir 1403, UPI was promoted to a separate entity under the name PPI (ITM Islamic Education Center). The change in ITM status to UiTM also affects PPi. Diploma-level Islamic Education courses are reduced to 3 semesters and at the same time PPI is entrusted to conduct TITAS courses to Honors Bachelor Degree students.
On 13 January 2004 equivalent to 20 Zulkaedah 1424, once again the role of PPI was expanded with the establishment of Center For Islamic Thought & Understanding (CITU) which aims to strengthen Islamic scholarship and civilization at the University, national, and even international level. The history of CITU at UiTM Melaka began simultaneously with the establishment of ITM, starting from the first campus at Jalan Hang Tuah Bandar Melaka until the transfer to a permanent campus in Lendu, Alor Gajah, Melaka.
CITU is now known as Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS)
