At the beginning of its operation at the IKM building in Jalan Hang Tuah, ITM Cawangan Melaka has only one full-time law lecturer assisted by several lawyers who serve part-time to teach courses / law subjects for students.

In 1999, the post of Legal Coordinator was created.

Among the duties of the Legal Coordinator is to supervise the law lecturers for for the teaching of the subject of law. Apart from that, the co-ordinator also provides legal advisory services to campus administration units such as giving legal advice to HEP and HEA in disciplinary hearings.
